Not all wedding cake is thrown away after a wedding!
On this day last year, a piece of wedding cake from the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981 was sold for $1,000 UK pounds (approx $1,830 US).

It is now 28 years since Diana Spencer married Prince Charles in the grandest wedding of the last 50 years.  An estimated 750 million people watched on television.
According to various sources, there were 22 or 23 different Wedding Cakes made to celebrate the day.

Jas and Gurinder from Phulkari Weddings recently ordered several ‘faux’ cakes from Thea, and I managed to snap a few pictures of one, which I named Adway (an Indian name meaning ‘One’, or ‘United’), before it left our studio.
